P1W2 – Color Study

I chose Yellow because I hate it so much. There would be no point in doing a color study on blue, since I already seem to notice every single blue thing in my field of vision. Most of my photos have some blue in them or I don’t see the value. Red seems to be overdone. Yellow, on the other hand, is a color I’ve always loathed – which makes it a perfect study.

Yellow is basically color’s exclamation point. It’s like your friend who texts in all caps, like it has to scream everything.

Stop!

Here’s a wonderful example. Look at how this obnoxious sign screams for attention. Yellow is used on warning signs, painted corners, and even bleachers in order to rudely assault your eyes and suck your focus.

Look!

Here is an example of the extravagance of the color. This bike says, “Look at me! I’m fancy” Of all the bikes on the rack, I guarantee you this would be the first stolen.

Watch Out!

Some might say yellow is the color of education. After all, it’s on school buses, pencils, post-its, and maintenance forms. Really though, a school bus is yellow to warn drivers and others away. “Stay away from me!” it screams, “I’m Yellow! I’m sickly! I’m full of kids!”

It’s Springtime!

Yeah, cuz… screw spring…

Actually, for a weed, this thing is quite pretty. It says, “Stop, look and smell the flowers, watch time that it doesn’t pass you by.”

Okay, that was corny. Which is also yellow. Yeah, I’ll stop now.
